We are excited to have the only commercially operating wool/fibre mill in Saskatchewan, and as such proudly promote our local wool industry and fibreshed. The mill is capable of processing wool, alpaca fibre, llama fibre, angora, mohair, cashmere and pet fur.
Pre-industrial revolution garments were sustainable, locally sourced and produced. This principal has been steadily growing, and people are looking for durable clothes, with traceable origins, that will serve them for a long time using local resources available to them. This not only creates a dynamic system that sustainably manages resources, but strengthens our ties to the land.
Our durable, long-lasting and high quality products are made with a low carbon footprint and produce zero waste. Wool is biodegradable when its useful life is completed and it goes to the landfill. The mill uses non hazardous, non toxic dye, “Greener Shades” that is heavy metal free. Not only is it light and colour fast but it conforms to the Organic Trade Associations standard for Certified Organic Processing.
All local suppliers must sign a document stating that they adhere to these five freedoms of animal welfare practices to ensure all of the wool and fibre we process is ethical.
by ready access to fresh water and diet to maintain health and vigor.
by providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area
by prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment.
the ability to behave naturally by providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the species of their own kind.
ensuring conditions and treatment that would avoid any mental suffering.
